AGC Convention Coming Up - Don't Miss Timely Sessions on PLAs, AI, and More!

AGC of America’s 2024 Annual Convention is right around the corner, March 19-22, 2024, in San Diego, CA. Among the many valuable sessions and networking opportunities are some impactful sessions of particular interest to Human Resource & Labor News subscribers.

On March 20, starting at 2:00 p.m., the Convention will feature an open session on Negotiating PLAs:  Navigating Key Terms to Safeguard Your Interests. Whether you like project labor agreements (PLAs) or hate them, more and more contractors are facing them and need to understand their terms. And, with the new federal contractor PLA mandate now in effect, the issue is more timely than ever. A panel of experts will discuss critical terms to seek and to watch out for when negotiating a PLA or handed a template agreement. The session will be relevant to a broad range of contractors, across sectors, whether performing public or private work, and whether union or open-shop.

On March 21, starting at 2:00 p.m., the Union Contractors Forum will explore the intersection of technology and unionized construction workforces. Issues to be covered in this open session include the transformative impact of AI, robotics, and automated equipment on traditional labor relations in the construction industry. Panelists will discuss challenges, opportunities, and the evolving dynamics that arise as technology reshapes the landscape of workforces.

The Convention also features an entire educational track of Workforce, HR, and Diversity sessions on March 21-22 covering such topics as talent retention, navigating difficult conversation with personnel, and turning them into opportunities for grow and connection, demystifying AGC’s Culture of CARE diversity and inclusion program.
