Culture, Inclusion and Belonging

Apply for a Culture of CARE Award HERE

The Culture of CARE Impact Awards celebrate construction companies that are transforming their culture to create environments where every individual feels safe, respected, and valued. Rooted in the four pillars of the Culture of CARE pledge—Commit, Attract, Retain, and Empower—these awards recognize firms that are embedding inclusion and belonging as strategic business priorities to ensure that all individuals have the opportunity to succeed based on their merit and performance, free from unlawful discrimination or harassment.

The four award categories aligned with each of the Culture of CARE pillars are:

1. Commitment to CARE

  • Honors companies that demonstrate visible, consistent leadership commitment to inclusion and psychological safety, internally and externally.

2. Attracting Talent

  • Celebrates organizations that lead with intentional outreach and inclusive hiring strategies to expand access to careers in construction.

3. Retention and Belonging

  • Recognizes companies that create an inclusive work environment where all employees and trade partners (subcontractors) feel respected, heard, and supported.

4. Employee Empowerment

  • Rewards companies that intentionally cultivate a culture where every worker across job roles, backgrounds, and career stages is empowered to contribute, develop, and lead.

Companies may apply for one or more categories that reflect their strengths. One company will also be selected as the Culture of CARE Champion of the Year for demonstrating exceptional performance in at least one category and showing a holistic, integrated, and sustained approach to fostering a Culture of CARE beyond their company.

The application deadline is Monday, October 27, 2025. Apply for a Culture of CARE Award now.

AGC's Commitment

Latest Thoughts on AGC’s Culture of CARE/D&I programs:

AGC of America is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging in the construction industry. Our Culture of CARE program was launched to ensure that every worker feels valued, respected, and safe on the job site. It is a voluntary, business-driven initiative designed to drive higher retention, improved productivity, and safer workplaces that reflect the professionalism and best values of our industry.

AGC’s Culture of CARE and other efforts to make the construction industry more diverse and inclusive have never been about unlawful quotas, preferences, or mandates. Rather, they seek to promote equal employment opportunity for all in accordance with legal mandates – ensuring that all hardworking people have an equal shot at the American dream and are rewarded based on merit, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected class status.

Moreover, these efforts are designed to address the industry’s well-documented labor shortages. By facilitating a more diverse workforce and welcoming work environment, our programs help employers recruit and retain workers of all backgrounds into high-paying construction careers. This, in turn, supports our nation’s infrastructure development and economic growth.

President Trump’s recent executive order on federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs has encouraged us to conduct a thorough review of our diversity and inclusion initiatives and resources to ensure continued compliance with the law. This process will incorporate the latest guidance and may take a little time. We appreciate your patience.

While this review is underway, our commitment to building an inclusive and respectful industry remains unchanged. We will keep you updated as we move forward.

As always, AGC will continue to advocate for policies that support a strong, skilled, and diverse workforce. If you have any questions, please reach out.
