AGC Leads Congressional Tour of Construction Site

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) Joins AGC for Tour

On December 15, AGC Nebraska Building Chapter and AGC of America, working with Kiewit Building Group, led Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) on a tour of the new Douglas County Juvenile Justice Center construction project in Omaha, Nebraska. The project tour provided AGC with an opportunity to discuss with Rep. Bacon the benefits of infrastructure investment as well as the many challenges facing the construction industry, including the rising cost of construction materials, and to thank him for his vote in support for the AGC-Backed Bipartisan Infrastructure bill. AGC also discussed with Rep. Bacon the ongoing workforce shortages in the construction industry and AGC-supported legislation and efforts to address the shortage. Douglas County used $10 million from its flexible COVID-relief provided under the CARES Act—made possible by AGC’s successful advocacy to allow for local government to spend funds of infrastructure investments to combat COVID-19to make larger rooms and utilize better air handling systems, among other things.
