BIM/VDC Considered the Top Trend in Facilities Management

At the 2013 Construction Owners Association of America (COAA) Spring Owners Leadership Conference, Mortenson Construction conducted a survey on construction owner’s perspective on facility management and project delivery.  More than 60 facilities professionals including facilities leaders for organizations such as higher education, healthcare and government participated in the survey. When asked to identify the most exciting trend in facility management and project delivery 42% cited BIM/VDC as their top trend, 20% higher than other trends.  The survey group said they see a number of significant benefits from BIM/VDC coordination, including identifying possible construction issues before they occur and reducing overall project costs.
