AGC Opens Registration for 2013 Contractors Environmental Conference

Exciting Learning and Networking Opportunities Planned for June 13-14 After an extremely successful first-ever AGC Contractors Environmental Conference last year, AGC will keep the momentum going at this year’s conference – scheduled for June 13-14, 2013, in Arlington, Va.  This year will bring some exciting opportunities from an impressive line-up of speakers to technology demonstrations and a new Compliance Assistance Hour where attendees can explore resources and ask targeted questions. Register online at www.agc.org/enviroconf2013 and take advantage of the early bird rate that extends through April 30.  Session topics and other conference details also are available online. This year’s AGC Contractors Environmental Conference will focus on “removing the barriers to action” on the environmental challenges the construction industry is facing on a daily basis.  In furtherance of this goal, AGC has reached out to experts in their fields so that they can share the knowledge and tools attendees will then be able to use to take action back at the office or in the field.  We recognize that many of the professionals who have or will attend this conference are the behind-the-scenes environmental leaders at their companies — often tasked with teaching and sharing their environmental knowledge with others.  Barry Fagan, who will kick-off this year’s conference, puts it best: “Your knowledge is useless until shared or acted on.”  This conference will show attendees how. The 2013 AGC CEC speakers will give attendees need-to-know information on the major compliance requirements and sustainability initiatives.  Attendees will learn how to hone their leadership skills, manage environmental requirements through effective company-specific programs and self-audits, and much more.
AGC is proud to announce that this year’s conference also features a keynote address by Administrator Victor Mendez of the Federal Highway Administration.  Among other relevant topics, Administrator Mendez will discuss the three main focus areas for FHWA’s Every Day Counts initiative: shortening project delivery, accelerating technology and innovation deployment, and FHWA's Going Greener initiative.
Another great thing about this year’s conference is its location and proximity to the federal agencies that write the very rules that govern projects nationwide.  This conference will feature a “Compliance Assistance Hour: A Meet and Greet with the Federal Agencies” — providing attendees with the opportunity to explore and ask questions about the compliance assistance and sustainability tools provided by these federal agencies.
