Construction Employment Increases in 26 States and the District of Columbia in July

According to an analysis by AGC of state employment data released by the Labor Department, construction employment increased in 26 states between July 2010 and July 2011 and during the past month.  The relatively even split between states adding and losing construction jobs was to be expected given the fact that overall employment in construction was relatively stagnant in July, association officials noted. Texas and North Dakota had the largest yearly job pickup while Florida and Georgia experienced the worst yearly job losses.  For the month of August, Utah and California had the largest job gains. Texas and Alaska had the worst monthly job losses.
