What You Need to Know Now: Preparing for a Possible Government Shutdown

On Wednesday, March 2, President Obama signed a stopgap funding bill into law that will keep the government running until March 18.  Although the House and Senate managed to set aside differences to prevent a government shutdown next week, there are currently major discrepancies between funding levels supported by the House, Senate and Administration.  The White House announced after the vote on March 2, that leaders of both parties have been invited to meet with Vice President Biden to broker a deal that will provide funding for the rest of the fiscal year. If the parties cannot reach an agreement by March 18 and a shutdown occurs, contractors need to be prepared.  AGC FAR Committee Chairman Dirk Haire has written an article to help answer questions on what to do in the instance of a government shutdown.
