Implementation of EPA’s off-road diesel rule began in 2007 with the requirement to use 500 ppm diesel fuel (Low Sulfur Diesel) in all off-road vehicles. It will not be long before ULSD fuel becomes the norm and all new vehicles and equipment must meet Tier 4 emissions levels. The State of California and other entities around the country are also trying to mandate retrofits of existing equipment that’s currently in the field through new state regulations or contract specifications.
