Local Chapter Best Practices Using Social Media

Leverage social media to establish a strong presence within your construction community, promote your events, and ensure strong attendance and membership.  

Where to Start 

  • LinkedIn 

  • Highly utilized by construction professionals and aligns with CLC values for professional development. 

  • CLC Chairs & Marketing Subcommittees assigned as Admins 

  • Operate as your own entity 

  • Post events and updates 

  • Gain a following of members 

Establish Your Brand 

  • Update to “Construction Leadership Committee” 

  • Define logo, fonts, color scheme 

  • Create templates: 

  • Graphic for LinkedIn Post  

  • Email Newsletter  

  • Water Cooler / Job Shack Flyer  

Content Strategy 

Types of Posts

  • Promote upcoming events / provide registration links* 

  • To ensure good exposure on algorithm put any links that take you away from LinkedIn website in the comments section of your post.  

  • Recap events with photos, key takeaways, and highlights  

  • Highlight and share local AGC post, events, and articles 

  • Spotlight CLC Members serving on the committee / greater membership 

  • Behind the scenes: capture photos of committee meetings, internal committee bonding, and participation at local/national meetings and conferences.  

Post Frequency

  • Aim for 1–2 posts per week to maintain visibility 

  • Promote events at least 4-weeks in advance 

  • Post reminders of upcoming events weekly or bi-weekly 

  • Capture photos at events in lieu of using stock photos 

Engagement Best Practices 

Tag relevant people & organizations = Increases visibility, encourages reposts, promotes member engagement, recognizes sponsors 

  • Tag your committee members, local AGC Chapter, AGC of America, Sponsors 

  • Strategic use of Hashtags: #AGCCLC #AGC #CLC #ConstructionLeadershipCommittee #ConstructionLeadership ConstructionIndustry (etc) 

  • NEW: National hashtag to give chapter’s visibility into your events - #AGCCLC 

  • Respond promptly to comments, DM’s, inquiries! 

Amplifying CLC’s Reach 

  • Share official local CLC and national AGC content on your personal profiles.  

  • Share across platforms: Adapt your LinkedIn posts for your chapter’s Instagram, Facebook, or X (if established).
