STATEMENT: CALIFORNIA'S DECISION TO CUT BILLIONS IN LOANS FOR VITAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS REMINDER OF DESPERATE NEED FOR FEDERAL STIMULUS

"California's decision to cut funding for vital infrastructure projects is yet another reminder of the desperate need for new and rapid federal stimulus investments. With these investments, we'll put people back to work and money back into the economy. Without these investments, we'll see more devastating job losses and disappointing economic contractions. The choice is clear, we can act now to build America's future, or we can watch it slip away like yet another piece of the American dream," said Stephen Sandherr, the Chief Executive Officer of the Associated General Contractors of America.

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. AGC represents more than 33,000 firms, including 7,500 of America's leading general contractors, and over 12,500 specialty-contracting firms. More than 13,000 service providers and suppliers are associated with AGC through a nationwide network of chapters. Visit the AGC Web site at www.agc.org.
