Construction Markets

Construction Markets

AGC knows that most members and firms in the industry identify with a specific construction market. AGC maintains divisions to represent each of the four major construction markets in order to provide a forum where those engaged in similar types of construction activities may discuss common issues and opportunities.

Building Division
The AGC Building Division is a large and diverse constituency within the overall Association. More than half of AGC's general contractor members do some form of building construction as part of their business. The Building Division represents large and small contractors, from those that offer a wide variety of pre-construction and post-construction services to those that offer only traditional construction services.

Federal & Heavy Division
The AGC Federal and Heavy Construction Division helps its contractor members better perform Federal construction projects, and Division members perform a diverse range of projects including building construction for agencies such as the General Services Administration, military construction projects for our Armed Services, and water resources projects that benefit our nation's navigation and flood control.

Highway & Transportation Division
The AGC Highway and Transportation Division provides a home for contractors involved in highway and transportation construction markets, including highway, bridge, transit, airport runway and railroad. The Division promotes market development at the federal level and assists it chapters nationwide in promoting market development at the state and local levels.

Municipal & Utilities Division
The AGC Municipal and Utilities Division provides management and market services to its members. Division members are engaged in water and wastewater, underground utility, site preparation, and other types of public works construction. The Division also serves as a liaison to and monitors other water, wastewater, and utility owner and user groups in the public and private sectors.
