Rachel Wilber is currently a senior estimator for Walbridge with more than a decade of construction experience. Her construction experience and estimating expertise has supported constructing some of the largest manufacturing facilities across the U.S. including several Fortune 500 customers in the industrial, industrial process, and commercial market sectors. A graduate of Michigan State University’s Construction Management Program in May 2011, Rachel’s spent her career at Walbridge – starting in the company’s internship program.

Rachel has been active with the Associated General Contractors of Michigan and became involved with the national level of AGC in 2020 when she joined the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Steering Committee. She is the incoming Chair of the CLC Steering Committee and previously served as a wild card on the AGC Board of Directors.

Why did you join the National AGC CLC Steering Committee?

As I became more involved with my local AGC and CLC chapters, I became aware of the opportunity to apply for the National CLC Steering Committee.  It seemed like a great opportunity to expand my professional network and take advantage of the opportunities that the national AGC and CLC provide.

What benefits have you experienced being involved at both the National and Chapter level?

Being involved at both the National and Chapter levels has provided me the ability to see the industry’s challenges and solutions from a state-wide, nation-wide, and industry-wide angle, which has provided ample learning opportunity.  It’s been very beneficial for me to understand the functions of the National AGC and how they work to support and strengthen the construction industry.  The networking opportunities at the national level are invaluable.  The National CLC is a diverse group with members that span various aspects of the industry, and building my network with peers in the industry who work in both similar and different markets than Walbridge has been incredibly beneficial.

What can others gain by engaging with AGC of America?

The opportunities that the AGC provides for personal and professional development are endless.  The networking and educational opportunities will benefit both you and your company, and having access to resources for the key issues impacting our industry will allow you to keep up with current trends and hot topics in construction.
