CLC Chapter Highlight: General Building Contractors Association

With COVID-19 restrictions lifting in the City of Philadelphia, GBCA’s Construction Leadership Council has come back together in-person! On June 10, 2021, the CLC hosted an in-person workshop and networking event at a local brewery.

After 15 months of virtual meetings, virtual workshops, and virtual “meet-ups,” the CLC wanted an opportunity to rethink networking, and get a refresher on making business and industry connections. Matt Blank, Director of Business Development of Friedman LLP, spoke about building business through networking and relationships, as opposed to a hard sell. This approach to business development and relationship-building starts with a strong conversation.

After Matt’s presentation, CLC members were able to kick back with food and drinks, reconnect with old friends, and make new friends and connections. Several attendees had only seen each other as Zoom squares in virtual events, so it was good to finally meet in person and set the foundation for future project collaborations.

As in-person events can now take place in the Philadelphia region, the CLC is excited to take on a hybrid approach to its activities. In addition to resuming in-person networking events and jobsite tours, we will still hold some training workshops and meetings virtually to meet the changing needs and schedules of our members. The GBCA CLC’s next professional and leadership development workshop will take place in September and focus on “Adjusting to Change.” An apt topic for us all!
