Construction Employment Remains Stagnant

Construction employment was virtually unchanged in May as the industry added just 2,000 jobs for the month and the sector’s unemployment rate declined to 16.3 percent, according to an analysis of new federal employment data released Friday by AGC. AGC said that declines in public sector construction demand are offsetting slight increases in private sector demand, resulting in stagnant construction employment levels that are unlikely to change soon. The news was covered by USA Today, Kansas City Star, Louisville Business First, Orlando Business Journal, Meriden Record Journal, ENR and Globe Street. Read AGC's press release here.
