Input Requested on Deferred Public Building Projects

AGC of America is working to unite building, highway, and water groups to talk about the stimulus we can deliver.  We are pushing for as much stimulus as possible for vertical and horizontal construction using as many existing programs as possible to aide quick stimulus.  AGC continues to press Congress to enact an economic recovery package with infrastructure investment as soon as possible to prevent further job losses in the industry and to create additional job opportunities for contractors and their workers. We are seeking input from building contractors on whether you are aware of public building projects that have recently been or are likely to be deferred due to current economic conditions.  Public buildings would include schools, hospitals, courts, government buildings, etc. Any information you can provide regarding what types of projects these are, how much the project is worth (overall and/or to your firm), and the anticipated length of the deferment (e.g. indefinitely, one year, etc.) would be helpful as AGC works to push for an economic stimulus package with a substantial infrastructure component. Please send any information to Mike Stark at starkm@agc.org.
