AGC Develops and Field Tests BIM 101 Course

AGC of America is thrilled to create a full-day course titled BIM 101: An Introduction to Building Information Modeling that will give participants a broad overview of BIM and introduce important concepts that will be necessary for advanced courses planned for development.  BIM 101 will be released on February 16, 2009 and will be offered at AGC chapters, construction firms and educational institutions. The BIM 101 field test was conducted at the AGC of Virginia on December 10 to ensure the course material was created for the appropriate audience, as well as to ensure concepts and scenarios were realistic before publication.  The 20 participants in the field test primarily had no BIM experience and were eager to learn more about essential concepts, technology, process and integration.  Following presentation of several successful construction projects (contributed from contractors across the country) where BIM was used, participants worked in groups to discuss their BIM action plan. If you have any questions about BIM 101, the field test results or hosting this course upon release, please contact Amy Fields, Senior Director of Curriculum and Program Development at fieldsa@agc.org or (703) 837-5360.
