Deadlines

  • Funds must be apportioned by federal agency no later than 21 days after enactment
  • 50% of the funds must be obligated by the State within 180 days from apportionment of funds by the federal government
  • 100% of the funds must be obligated by the State within 1 year from apportionment of funds by the federal government

Additional Information

  • State matching requirements are waived for these funds
  • Of the funds provided for section 5311 of title 49, United States Code, 2.5 percent shall be made available for section 5311(c)(1)
  • $100 million shall be set aside as discretionary grants to public transit agencies for capital investments that will assist in reducing the energy consumption or greenhouse gas emissions of their public transportation systems with priority being given to projects based on total energy savings projected as well as projected savings as a percentage of total energy usage of the public transit agency
  • Fuels used largely for bus and rolling stock purchase.
