Register for Webinar Series AGC presents the Supervisory Training Webinar Series for early–career construction supervisors and those looking to make a move into such a role. Five webinars, each 90 minutes long, will be presented on Leadership and Motivation, Understanding and Managing Project Costs, Oral and Written Communication, Accident Prevention and Loss Control, and Problem Solving and Decision Making. Participants can elect to attend all five webinars or just sign up for one at a time. Registrants will also have the options to purchase the corresponding Participant’s Manual for each course at a discounted rate.

The STP webinar series will provide participants with a valuable, yet condensed portion of some of the most popular STP units. These webinars are not a replacement for the in–seat STP courses, but rather to supplement specific supervisor skills and provide an introduction to AGC’s STP offering. Presenters

Mark O. Federle, PE, PhD, CPC

Mark is currently the McShane Chair in Construction Engineering and Management at Marquette University. He has responsibility of starting what will become the 13th ABET – Accredited Construction Engineering program in the country. Previously he was Chief Information Officer for The Weitz Company in Des Moines for nine years. Prior to joining The Weitz Company, Federle was the Professor–in–Charge of Construction Engineering program at Iowa State University, where he taught for nine years. In 1998, Mark was recognized by the ISU engineering student council as the outstanding Construction Engineering Faculty Member. In 1999, he was honored as the Outstanding Engineering Advisor. Mark’s career began in the construction industry working as a foreman, superintendent, and project manager for general contractors in Indiana and Michigan. Mark earned his PhD and Masters in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Michigan. Mark is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Professional Constructor.

Paul Flentge

Paul is Safety Director for Pepper Construction Company in Chicago, Illinois. Paul received a Bachelor of Business Degree from the Western Illinois University. He started at Pepper Construction as a Carpenter in 1985, and worked as a Superintendent until being promoted to Safety Director in 2004. Paul has redefined the Safety Management program at Pepper through a company–wide commitment to a philosophy of Zero Injuries. In the past five years, as the company’s total hours worked have continually increased, work–related injuries have decreased by 85%. Paul is an OSHA Outreach Trainer, a BCSP Certified Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) & Associate Safety Professional (ASP) as well as being Green Advantage Certified (GAC) through the USGBC.

Paul is involved with many industry organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Construction Safety Council, is a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, serves as Chairman of the Builders Association Safety Committee and is the past Chairman of the AGC of American Supervisory Training Committee.

Founded in 1927, Chicago–based Pepper Construction is a privately–owned general contracting and construction management firm primarily serving the non–residential and private sector markets, including healthcare, retail, institutional, educational, interiors, and commercial clients. Serving clients from offices in Chicago, Barrington and Tinley Park, Pepper construction’s 2009 gross revenues totaled almost $600 million.

Daniel Fahey

Daniel is currently the Manager of Field Operations and Quality Control at Tarlton Corporation. He has responsibility of supervising manpower assignments of six union trades through daily communication with superintendents and foremen. Previously he was Superintendent for Commercial Construction while overseeing field forces and subcontractors.

Prior to serving as Superintendent for nine years, Fahey was a Case Manager in a rehabilitation program for Deaf Adults. Before his current position, he worked as Project Manager for two years where he wrote contracts and worked directly with design teams. Daniel has taught AGC’s Supervisory Training Program since 2005.
