Project Description
The Lock rehabilitation was the installation of a deep well watering system beneath the lock floor, the installation and removal of the lock bulkheads, and the design, installation, and operation of an ice control system. A poiree dam and culvert bulkhead was also installed and damaged embedded metals were removed and replaced. Existing lock ladders were also removed and replaced.

Project Challenges:

  • Work was to be completed during a 77-day winter lock closure period.

Issue:
At the Partnering meeting, it was recognized that due to the nature of working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the work during the closure period, quick resolution of problems was critical.
