Risk Profiler

The AGC Risk Profiler is an electronic form that construction contractors and their insurance brokers can use to create, save and continuously update a profile of the business activities that expose such contractors to significant risks of either loss or liability. As readers will see, the first section of the form asks about the type of work that a contractor performs, and about the firm's ownership and size. Fire Once they have completed the form, either alone or in conjunction with their insurance brokers, construction contractors can better assess their insurance and other risk management programs. Many contractors will need insurance professionals to help them interpret the results, and in that case, AGC hopes the form will improve communication between such contractors and their insurance brokers, and enhance their typically joint efforts to identify cost-effective ways to manage the contractor's risks of either loss or liability.

Required Software

With only the Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 6.0 or higher), which remains a free download from the web site for Adobe Systems, Inc. (www.adobe.com), construction contractors and other users can download, save, read and print the AGC Risk Profiler. To save information entered into the electronic version of the form, users will, however, need the full version of Adobe Acrobat (version 6.0 or higher), also available from Adobe Systems, Inc.

The AGC Insurance Checklist

The AGC Insurance Checklist is a potentially useful companion to the AGC Risk Profiler. It is intended to help construction contractors determine the precise scope of their current insurance coverage. Once a construction contractor has completed the AGC Risk Profiler, the AGC Insurance Checklist can help the firm compare the results with the scope and nature of the firm's current insurance policies. The AGC Risk Profiler is a revised and updated version of the "risk profile" form found in AGC's risk management handbook, entitled "Risk Management Insurance and Bonding for the Construction Industry." The "Gap Task Force" of AGC's Risk Management Committee reviewed and improved the checklist over a two-year period that began in February of 2004 and concluded in February of 2006.
