How to Support the AGC Foundation

The AGC Education and Research Foundation gratefully acknowledges donations of all sizes made in support of the various Foundation programs. We encourage your involvement and support in the vital work of helping prepare tomorrow's constructors by investing in them today. By making a tax–deductible gift to the AGC Foundation, you have the opportunity to ensure a solid future for generations of constructors to come through construction education scholarships.

Establish a Named Scholarship

The AGC Education and Research Foundation will name a scholarship in memory of a family member, friend or associate when you make a contribution of $25,000 or more. Your gift may be made in one lump sum of $25,000, or in five consecutive annual installment payments of $5,000 each. Once the full endowment has been received, your scholarship will be awarded based on available interest earned.

As a contributor, you may indicate a geographic or university preference for your named scholarship. The Foundation will make every effort possible to meet this preference, but reserves the right to award a scholarship, even if your criteria cannot be met.

For more information about how YOU can establish a named scholarship, please contact Floretta Slade, AGC Foundation Director of Programs, at (703) 837–5342.

Fifty for the Foundation

The AGC Foundation invites leading construction firms to pledge $50,000 or more over five years for endowed scholarships in their name. All donations are completely tax–deductible, and may be spread out in five equal payments of $10,000 per year.

AGC Occupational Division Challenge

In this challenge, the Foundation seeks to raise $100,000 each in the four Occupational Divisions over five years to endow scholarships in the name of the individual Division.

Sustaining Appeal

The Sustaining Appeal is an effort to involve all AGC members in a yearly commitment to provide unrestricted funding for the activities and operations of the Foundation. We seek gifts from $50–$500 from our extended AGC family a sustaining contribution. To make your donation, you can use our convenient online form or make your check payable to the AGC Education and Research Foundation.

Industry Research

Research within the construction industry is vitally important. As such, the Foundation's research activities are increasing in response to critical needs. Click here to learn more about the valuable research programs currently receiving support from the Foundation.

Gift Planning

By including the AGC Education and Research Foundation in your long–term financial plans, you will be able to make a difference in the construction industry for generations to come. There are several approaches to planning the best gift for your situation and way of life. We welcome the opportunity to show you the potential benefits of making a planned gift to support the Foundation's work.

Gifts by Will or Trust

Bequests – gifts by will or trust– are the simplest way to provide for the AGC Education and Research Foundation in your estate plans. You can include the Foundation in your will or trust in several different ways:

  • Specific Bequests: An outright bequest designates that a specific amount be transferred as a gift from your estate to the AGC Education and Research Foundation, all of which will be deductible for federal estate tax purposes.
  • Proportional Bequests: Giving a percentage of your estate ensures that the gift will remain in proportion to other bequests. Since few of us can anticipate the value of our assets at death, giving a percentage of your estate will retain flexibility.
  • Residual Bequests: The "residue" refers to all property available after other terms of the will or trust are satisfied. Residual bequests may be small or large, but in either case, you will have the assurance that your loved ones will be provided for before any charitable dispositions are made.
  • Contingent Bequests: A contingent bequest names the AGC Education and Research Foundation as the recipient of an amount or portion of your will or trust should another beneficiary not survive you.

Suggested Language

To include the AGC Education and Research Foundation in your estate plans, simply insert the following into your will or trust: "I give (specific amount, percentage, or residue) to the AGC Education and Research Foundation, having its principal offices at 2300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 400, Arlington, VA 22201, for its general purposes."

Fund raising Events

In addition to the funds provided through named scholarships and other voluntary donations, the AGC Education and Research Foundation, hosts several fund raisers each year to help secure additional funds to support the Foundation's scholarship program, awards program, and student competition.

Silent Auction

Each year, the AGC Specialty Contractors Council and Service and Supply Council host a silent auction of items donated by generous individuals or groups. In the past, such items for bid have included fine wine collections, jewelry, private art collections, vacation packages and more. Proceeds from these auctions go to support the educational and research activities of the Foundation. For more information about how you can participate in the silent and live auctions, please contact Floretta Slade, AGC Foundation Director of Programs, at (703) 837–5342.

AGC Foundation Golf Tournament

Each year attendees are invited to join the fun and camaraderie at the William H. Ratz Memorial Golf Tournament with proceeds benefiting the AGC Foundation Scholarship Program.

The AGC Specialty Contractors Council and Service and Supply Council host the golf tournament to raise funds for the AGC Education and Research Foundation's scholarship program. Since 1994, the tournament has raised over $200,000, and the Education and Research Foundation's scholarship program has helped thousands of young men and women at colleges and universities throughout the country pursue degrees in construction or civil engineering.

If you have any questions about the tournament, please contact Rick Brown at (703) 837–5357.
