  • The competitive portion of the program has a 90-day timeline associated with it. That means EPA's Request for Applications(RFA)/review/selection/award timeline will be greatly compressed.
  • EPA will likely require full applications (vs. proposals) to be submitted and will likely hold the RFA open for ONLY 45 days. ONE BIG RFA will probably go out at the beginning of March - so everything will be due April 13.
  • It is also likely that EPA will be able to fund larger projects, including projects over $1 million.
  • Because of the increased available funding and compressed timelines, AGC Chapters are HIGHLY encouraged you to begin preparing their project proposals immediately.
  • Eligible entities and eligible funding activities will not/have not changed significantly from last year although some additional technologies have been verified.
  • EPA’s diesel funds will cover up to 100% for EPA-verified “retrofit” technologies (emission filters/catalysts), idle reduction technologies, and EPA-certified engine upgrades (kits only); 75% for engine repowers (newer engine); and 25% for all vehicle or equipment replacements.
  • EPA grants cannot fund the cost of emissions reductions currently mandated under federal, state or local law.
  • Money will be awarded in May 2009; those projects that receive funding must be implemented during the June 9, 2008 –Sept. 30, 2010 timeframe.
