Funding
- Total: $1.3 billion
- Capital security grants ($450 million)
- Non-security grants ($450 million)
Deadlines
- Funds must be awarded no later than 30 days after enactment
- Projects receiving these funds must be completed within 2 years of enactment
Additional Information
- Priority for the use of non-security funds shall be given to projects for the repair, rehabilitation, or upgrade of railroad assets or infrastructure, and for capital projects that expand passenger rail capacity including the rehabilitation of rolling stock
- Funds shall serve to supplement and not supplant planned expenditures from other Federal, State, local and corporate sources
- No more than 60% of the non-security funds can be used for projects along the Northeast Corridor
