AGC is pleased to present the three winners of the 2011 Outstanding Student Chapter Contest. Winners receive cash prizes, framed certificates and will be asked to give a presentation on their winning project at the 2012 AGC Annual Convention.
Iowa State University has won $1,500 for its Spring Break Service Trip to Cedar Rapids, Palo and Iowa City, Iowa, which tackled 16 restoration and building projects across three separate communities. The 40 primarily construction engineering students donated 2,700 hours in seven days of service.

Kansas State University has won $750 for its project to improve the Lutheran Campus Ministries parking area. The project, which took more than 1,500 hours of time donated by 50 students, included demolishing the existing approach, regrading the site, building a retaining wall, and placing the concrete parking lot and sidewalks.
California State – Chico has won $400 for Phase II of its “Blitz Build” for the Catalyst Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, a continuation of its 2010 first-place winning project, produced two more transitional housing units for the shelter, bringing the total to four units built by the students.
The 2012 contest will begin accepting applications in the Spring. Keep an eye out for information and an application.
